- Raman and Infrared spectroscopy at extreme conditions (e.g. Low / high temperatures, high pressures, magnetic field, and electric field): understanding phonons and their couplings with various other quasiparticles (e.g., electrons, magnons, orbitons etc.).
- Transport phenomena and optical properties: inorganic oxides, their thin films and interfaces/heterostructures; 2D materials (e.g., graphene, transition metal dichacogenides).
- Understanding the interface between biological molecules and inorganic oxide surfaces.
